The Best "Batman" Moments On The Simpsons

The Best "Batman" Moments On The Simpsons

With today's tragic news that everyone's (ok fine, MY) favourite Batman, Val Kilmer passed away at the age of 65, I thought I'd compile some of the best "Batman" moments from the "golden era" of The Simpsons in tribute.

As a 90s kid, "Batman Forever" holds a piece of my heart as it was my first experience watching a Batman film at the movies, plus who could possibly forget the epic McDonald's glasses? I know I don't, since I still own mine.

So here are some of what I consider to be the greatest “Batman” moments from The Simpsons:

Marge vs The Monorail

Homer is in desperate need of help after the monorail loses its brakes, so he calls on the help of Marge and a professor, who turns out, is NOT Batman.

Mr. Plow

This is arguably the best of them all. An unexpected (but fantastic) guest appearance from Adam West as he asks the age old question, “why doesn’t Batman dance anymore?”

Lisa’s Rival

Whilst the main plot of this episode sees Lisa jealous of the new kid Allison, the b-plot is the iconic “sugar” story, featuring some rather eccentric beekeepers. He likes to think he drives the Batmobile, but in reality we all know it’s just a chevy.

The Mysterious Voyage Of Homer

Homer is in search of a soul mate and looks to E.A.R.L for some comfort. When he realises E.A.R.L is just a computer, he throws his hands up in anger and casts his silhouette across Springfield, to which Bart asks “is that Dad?”

The Joy Of Sect

Homer has joined a local cult known as the “Movementarians”, however the camp is struggling to brain-wash him into believing in “The Leader”. So when all else fails, go to the “Batman” theme. Na na na na na na

Radioactive Man

This episode features a flashback to the original Radioactive Man series, which is essentially a direct parody of the 60s Batman, all the way down to the villains, music and action cards like “Zap!” and “Pow!”

Three Men And A Comic Book

From all the way back in Season Two, it’s the birth of Bartman! Bart dresses as his alter-ego in order to get discounted entry into the comic con, unfortunately the doorman hadn’t heard of him.

Bart The Fink

Bart is ready to go ape and opens a bank account, which leads to the eventual destruction of Krusty’s empire. Luckily it was as exciting as a weekend with the caped crusader.

Last Exit To Springfield

Lisa needs braces! Unfortunately due to Homer’s lack of dental plan, she’s forced to get this monstrosity attached to her face. When she demands the mirror and cackles hysterically, this is a direct parody of The Joker seeing his post-acid face in Batman ‘89.

Last Exit To Springfield (again)

The final one today also comes from this classic episode, which sees Mr. Burns and Smithers go to his secret lair in the same fashion as Bruce Wayne and Alfred on their way to the Batcave.

So there’s just some of my favourite “Batman” moments on The Simpsons. Did I miss any? If so, post them below!
